Hi all,
In my previous post, by mistake, I said chassisID when what I meant was
engineID. Here's the previous post.
Please think engineId when you see chassisID as you read the following.
***********************
One more issue if you don't mind.
In the chassis id command, there's the option of entering the "remote
chassisID ip address". That refers to the chassisID of the management
station, right?
Why is the remote chassisID optional? By being an optional parameter that
means it's not always needed. How can that be? Doesn't snmp v3 always
require that parameter for security?
Also, assuming that the remote chassisID comes from the NMS, how would you
find out what it is? A NMS is just a PC (or workstation) with some network
management s/w running on it. Lastly, can someone just make a number to use
as the chassisID or does it work differently?
Thanks very much
