RIP and route-map - subtract the metric value

Hi
What is the best way to reduce/subtract the RIP metrics when announce to
neighbor.
I tried offset-list and it worked well to increase (add 1- 16) the metrics
but there is no way
i can decrease the metrics.

I thought i can do route map as the "set" metrics option gives ,
  +/-<metric> Add or subtract metric

But there is no way i can associate this route map to the RIP protocol.

Any way i can achieve this .... ?
