The "ppp multilink links minimum 2" worked like a charm but with the "isdn fast-rollover-delay 1" it still takes 30 seconds to bring the 2nd channel up.
 
I'll play with some more timers and post the result.

As a side note, both channels on atlas550 will not come up at the same time due to hw limitation of the Atlas.
You have to add the command "isdn fast-rollover-delay 1" on the BRI to make it work.
You can find this on Adtran support pages...
