When you want to allow an outgoing connection only for a line, use the no exec command. When a user tries to Telnet to a line with the no exec command configured, the user will get no response when pressing the Return key at the login screen.

Hello All,

Thanx for all your replies,

The command " no exec" did the trick. ((Although I m not sure what it really
does.))

Really stupid of me to miss that one out, from the previous posts, but I was
really baffled by what was happening.

I am using a cisco Terminal server, 2600 in my lab, with IOS OS (tm) C2600
Software (C2600-IS-M), Version 12.1(5)T10.

I am not sure what is happening here, but the terminal server is
automatically generating connections with the host, and if I do a show line,
I can see the connections made. Also when I do a clear line and again try to
do a reverse telnet, I can see on the hosts, that it gets a lot of junk
commands, I assume from the terminal server, the problem is beoming so
accute that, I have to relaod the damn server two or three times a day,
which actually does'nt help much.

Here is the config-
ip host unit10 2033 172.31.10.1
ip host unit1 2041 172.31.10.1
ip host unit2 2042 172.31.10.1
ip host unit3 2043 172.31.10.1
ip host cat 2044 172.31.10.1
ip host unit6 2045 172.31.10.1
ip host unit7 2046 172.31.10.1
ip host unit8 2047 172.31.10.1
ip host unit9 2048 172.31.10.1

line 33 48
session-timeout 120
exec-timeout 5 0
password 7 13061E010803
logout-warning 60
transport input telnet
telnet speed 9600 9600

Am I missing something here, Can somebody please help me. This is really
driving me NUTS. I have already changed the IOS once.

Thanks in advance for the much appreciated help.

Smiles,

Mohit.
