Hi everyone and Happy MLK day,
In this link from the 3550 config guide,
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12114ea1/3550scg/sw
qos.htm#1127419
they talk about the "minimum-reserve level", (MRL) and how to change it with
the command, "wrr-queue min-reserve".
Although, I've read that section several times, I'm still confused and
bewildered about what's really going on. To me, it sounds like a very
convoluted way of setting the size of each of the 4 queues which, by default
is 100 packets long. Also, if I'm correct about this just being a way of
changing the queue length, could someone explain what's the thinking behind
having 8 minimum reserve levels when there are only 4 queues.
Also, what's the effect of changing a queue's MRL if the port is a routed
interface, part of an Etherchannel, or configured as a trunk?
Can someone explain why I should or want to change the default settings and
give an example or 2 of what's accomplished by making such a change.
Thanks in advanced, dt
