DLSw V2 uses UDP for CANUREACH between peer pairs. The UDP DISABLE will make DLSw to revert back to a RFC 1795 communication from a RFC 2166. Most common reason why. Cisco's implementation sources UDP from port 0 and firewall don't like that.

Dear all,

After I read the DLSW in the DocCD, in this link:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fibm_c/bcfpart2/bcfdlsw.htm#1002257.

It states that DLSw Version 2 uses UDP unicast in response to an IP
multicast. Since both IP Multicast and UDP unicast are DLSW version 2
features. I wonder if Cisco use them?

Moreover, the command "dlsw udp-disable" is available but don't not
configured as default. If DLSW+ doesn't use IP Multicast, why cisco enable
the sending of UDP unicast reponse as default? Should I disable it?
