Doug,

For anyone building a home lab, I recommend you spend the money on a pair of
3550s. They are a big part of the exam, and knowing the "SVI, VTP,
Etherchannel" is just the beginning. If you haven't mastered the QoS &
Security features, you will be in for a big disappointment come lab day.
They hold their value well, so you can dump them once you pass. If money is
an issue, I recommend you spend the money on good labs (Netmaster or
IPExpert) and use online racks.
