hi
your problem is that you have replaced the bootflash: & one of the dim of the flash:

look at the dir you sent ! the flash: & the boot flash: show C2600 this shows that the 2* 8mb dim are installed on slot 0 & 1.

place the old dim of slot0 then you will boot in boot state from ther just tftp the image you need.

hope it helps

RE: 4500 IOS upgrade problems

Try booting into the router's bootflash. If you can get into the
bootflash, you can use TFTP to load an new image. Look here for
instructions on how to boot into bootflash.

Subject: 4500 IOS upgrade problems

I have been doing research on this topic with no luck.
I have a 4500M router, that us using Rom Ver 5.1, there is 16meg of
flash installed in system. there is no IOS on the flash or in the
router.

i am trying to upload an IOS to the flash to get the router up and
runing.
There is no xmodem command on this Rommon, however there is a dnld
command.
I have tried this suing different command arguments with no luck. i
have tried sending the IOS bin file from SecureCRT using Xmodem, and
Hyperterm using kermit, ymodem and different version of Xmodem via
Console, none are able to communicate with router.

Commands I do have are

rommon 1 > ?
alias set and display aliases command
boot boot up an external process
break set/show/clear the breakpoint
confreg configuration register utility
cont continue executing a downloaded image
context display the context of a loaded image
cookie display contents of cookie PROM in hex
dev list the device table
dir list files in file system
dis disassemble instruction stream
dnld serial download a program module
frame print out a selected stack frame
help monitor builtin command help
history monitor command history
meminfo main memory information
repeat repeat a monitor command
reset system reset
set set a monitor variable
stack produce a stack trace
sync write monitor environment to NVRAM
sysret print out info from last system return
unalias unset an alias
unset unset a monitor variable

When I put in some flash i got from a friend it appears to have some
files on it, which I am unable to remove with any of the above commands

rommon 4 > dev
Devices in device table:
        id name
    flash: flash
bootflash: boot flash
    eprom: eprom

rommon 2 > dir flash:
         File size Checksum File name
   4209848 bytes (0x403cb8) 0xbdf3 c2600-i-mz.120-7.T
rommon 3 > dir bootflash:
         File size Checksum File name
   4209848 bytes (0x403cb8) 0xbdf3 c2600-i-mz.120-7.T

rommon 5 > dir eprom:
         File size Checksum File name
      3611 bytes (0xe1b) 0x9f7b uncompress
rommon 6 > meminfo

Main memory size: 32 MB. Packet memory size: 16 MB Available main memory
starts at 0xa000e000, size 0x1ff2000 Packet memory starts at 0xa8000000

If there is anyway I can get an IOS onto this router, or if there is a
way to get a newer version of the rommon any suggestion woudl be
helpfull thanks.
