That is right. AS 1 and AS 2 should see any routes between them as external. Can you post your configs for all 3 routers. Also can you send a show ip eigrp topology for R2 and R1. Have you tried shutting the ethernet link between R2 and R1 to see if R2 sees the route via R1 instead. Are both your links from R1 to R2 and R3 10Mbps or is the one from R2 100Mbps. I haven't had a chance to simulate this. Please let me know if you have resolved it.
