This is exactly why I decided to dump paypal. - paypalsucks com
A word of advise when it comes to ebay.
When using their service always send payment with the US Postal Service by
certified mail.
Mail fraud via the US Postal Service is a federal felony. Something like
this would qualify for that.
I use a US Postal Money order with US Postal Certified mail requiring a
signature. A couple of years back their was someone who bought several tens
of thousands of dollars of stolen Cisco equipment. Had they gone through the
US mail system and US Postal Money order to purchase these items they would
have had the US Federal Gov't after the thieves. They learned their lesson
the hard way.
As an ebayer since '98 I've learned to send emails to the sellers on big
ticket items early on and establish the who, what when, where etc, etc, to
ensure they are legit. I was burned once for like $70. I've sold about $25k
through there and bought about half as much without a problem.
Remember there is always escrow service and it's there so situations like
this don't happen.
Try contacting the sheriff in the county in which the person lives and the
DA there. I'm sure he'll sh%t his pants should a cop come knocking on the
door.
If he is outside the US then your most likely SOL.
