EIGRP & Redistribute Connected

Hello Group,

I have noted that with 12.2.1d code on 2500's the following configuration
fragment does NOT always function as expected under specific conditions.

router eigrp 1
redist connected metric 1000 100 254 1 1500

i.e. Occasionally, a show ip eigrp topology, does NOT show any Rconnected
successors like the one below

P 172.16.34.0/24, 1 successors, FD is 2585600
         via Rconnected (2585600/0)

until a clear ip route * is performed on the router in question.

The conditions that lead to this behavior appear to be
1) Complex route redistribution also is occurring, with other routing
protocols
2) Interfaces are shut on other routers, resulting in topology changes.
[Given the length of the configurations involved I deliberately have not
posted full configurations. Beside the configurations will not neccessarily
add any value.]

For want of a better term, this 'feature' is a possible bug but there is
however no reference to it on Cisco's bugfinder tool.

So my questions are
1) Has anybody else observed the 'feature'?
2) If so, is there a known configuration method that provides workaround,
that does NOT involve the omnipotent cure 'clear ip route *'?

Regards
Wayne
