Honestly, I don't know. Nor do I care really.
The point I'm trying to make is that there could be plenty of reason why
an example on one book is not working when tried on the actual device. The
variable are not fixed, It never is and never will. As an engineer you
should always keep your self open for all the possibilities.
The fact that IOS 12.0T is released after the book didn't really help
either. Doyle could've start writting that chapter of the book 2-3 years
before the released date of the book, he could also do the lab for the
example you're refering to on an old version IOS instead of the 12.0T
series. He didn't put what IOS he tried the code on, so it's pretty much
fair game from my point of view.

Hi Donny,

Agree with you that new features comes up everyday with new IOS versions.

About the RIP issue, doing a search on CCO. found the following:
Note: In IOS release 12.0T and later, RIP does not advertise the default
router if the route is not learned via RIP. Therefore, it may be necessary
to redistribute the route into RIP, or use the default-information
originate
command.

I believe that 12.0T was released after Doyle book, don't you beleive so?
;)

Karim.
