Yeah. I saw that on the cd, but no mention of switch-type. It would be nice though. How many times have I had to call the carrier because the person who ordered the line didn't get the info when they ordered it. Oh well.

Danny,

you're right, there is no isdn switch-type auto. You can autodetect encapsulation though.

r2(config-if)#autodetect encapsulation ?
lapb-ta Autodetect LAPB for ISDN terminal adapter
ppp Autodetect PPP encapsulations on interface
  v120 Autodetect V120 encapsulations on B-channels

I know you can autodetect spids, but switch-types??? I'm checking that now on my rack and I don't see it. I'm running 12.2(1d). "auto" is not an argument for the switch-type.

r5(config)#isdn switch-type ?
basic-1tr6 1TR6 switch type for Germany
basic-5ess Lucent 5ESS switch type for the U.S.
basic-dms100 Northern Telecom DMS-100 switch type for the U.S.
basic-net3 NET3 switch type for UK, Europe, Asia and Australia
basic-ni National ISDN switch type for the U.S.
  basic-qsig QSIG switch type
basic-ts013 TS013 switch type for Australia (obsolete)
ntt NTT switch type for Japan
vn3 VN3 and VN4 switch types for France
  <cr>

r5(config)#isdn switch-type

I believe under the ISDN Interface you can use the following:

isdn switch-type auto

Or something similiar to this. Use the Question mark?????

Hold for second, I believe there is a command, stuart.
I just can not remember at this time.

Friend of mind ordered ISDN from sprint but sprint did not provide switch
type so he had to figure it out him self.

I can not remember what that command or debug was and I do not have rack at
        work.

Let me get back to you on that.

        Iwan,

I was looking for any type of command that will tell you what switch type
the router is connected to, regardless of the router config. I'm guessing
there is no command to do that, but thought I'd ask anyway.
