Unfortunately if I knew the correct way I would have passed. I have
been throwing around the issue of 'is there a correct way to answer the
questions' for some time. According to the Proctors and the CCIE
support staff, any solution will work as long as it meets the criteria.
I have taken the lab three times and have discussed the issue with
friends of mine that have taken the test and our concensus is that 'some
answers are better than others'.

Basically I don't know what the 'right' answers are and I bet that
anyone who does probably works for Cisco and wont say. The whole
situation is just very frusterating as I'm sure many people on this list
know.

Hi Dan,

I think most of us had the same experience. On my 1st attempt, I walked
out the exam center confidently thinking that...'I am gonna be a CCIE!'
The exam was tough, but doable. But I was really shocked when I received
my results.

Since you brought up the word 'cisco expects', or I call it the
'cisco-way' of answering exam questions, I have been asking around after
my 1st attempt if anyone can give me a clue on the right 'way' but to no
avail. Maybe some experts on this list can tell me the meaning. I
personally felt that, skills from years of working experience in
configuring cisco products will probably not applicable to answering the
exam questions in the 'cisco way'....that can cause you to fail.

I have been using IPExpert WB4.0+5.0. I am quite use to the way IPExpert
solution in answering question. And if I answer exam questions based on
IPExpert way, is it acceptable? I am also wondering if attending a ccie
bootcamp can tell me the 'cisco expects' or 'cisco-way'. Really
appreciate if someone can shed some lights on this...my next attempt is
just around the corner.

regards - SH

Lee,

I would suggest that you save your money and go again. I paid for a
regrade of my last exam as I was in a similar situation that you
describe. The response that I got from the proctor after the regrade
was something to the effect, "We found some differences between your
attempt and the regrade but they were not significant." My feeling is
that any points that were not awarded via the grade program are
important, but I got my updated score sheet and it was identical to the
first results. I was just furious after that. It made me feel like I
had been beaten up, kicked while I was down and then had someone
standing on my face with their boot.

Best of luck with your future attempts, but I wouldn't bother with the
regrade and rather focus on the answers that Cisco 'expects' to see on
the exam.

Good luck.

Dan

Hi Lee,

Sorry to hear about your unhappy results. A few months back, there were
extensive discussions here on GS about going for a rescore. If you
check the achieves, you'll find people of 2 opinions - it's NOT worth
the money and go for it - if you feel you were really close. Most
people were of the former point of view. It's a tough call, but
ultimately you're only the one who can make that cost/benefit decision.
I hope that if you decide to have a rescore, you post your experience
here

Best of luck, dt
