thanks for this - I accept your point, is this on CCO?
I came accross this yesterday on an old 4700.
the command "boot system flash:abcxxx.bin" wass accepted fine, but the
device complained saying it couldn't find the file at bootup time.
the fix here was to type in "boot system flash abcxxx.bin" i.e. have a space
between the word flash and the image name.
It may be worth one last try with the command
boot system disk1 rsp-pv-mz.123-1a.bin" - or indeed disk0 as need be
