This is correct all syslog messages are sent with ip only info and it
is the job of syslogd to convert the ip addr's to names on the syslog
host. So it is important on the syslog host that ip addr's are resovable
via DNS. Note that the source-interface for the syslog message can be
set in many versions of ios.

Yes, I think also. Many Syslog Server (exp. kiwi-enterprises.com) can do
DNS
lookups.

not
the router.....
