I have tested with my lab. The hostname must be resolved by DNS lookup
before you can use it as logging hostname.

host aaa is not in DNS

MFSC01(config)#logging aaa
Translating "aaa"...domain server (10.7.1.11)
                          ^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

After I put the aaa into DNS, it works.

MFSC01(config)#logging aaa
MFSC01(config)#

Des
