We use an IBM running AIX as our syslog server. Most messages show up in the syslog files with the router name and some with IP addresses.
 
I believe if you configure the syslog server to resolve the IP addresses it will "translate" the IP addresses to the names.

I did not asked how to configure the router as dns client.
The question is how to configure the router to query DNS so that it would report domain name instead of IP address in the syslog
messages.
By default, router would not do so even when you configured name-servers.
