Fragment

Hi group,

I have a question about fragmentation as following scenario:

Host A (MTU 2000)----R1--------Serial(MTU
1500)-----R2------Serial(MTU1300)-----R3 Host B (MTU2000)

When host A fires out a 2000 byte packet (includes IP header), it will
fragment by R1 into 1500 byte packets as following:

Packet 1: 20 byte IP + 1480 byte Data
Packet 2: 20 byte IP + 500 byte Data (Fragment offset = 185)

and then these fragments will again further fragment into 1300 byte
fragments in R2.

My question is:

1) Will R2 reassembly the whole packet (2000 byte) before fragment into
1300 byte packets?

2) If no, what is the offset of the three fragments? Is it true that
described as following?

Packet 1.1: 20 byte IP + 1280 byte Data
Packet 1.2: 20 byte IP + 200 byte Data (Fragment offset 160)

Packet 2: 20 byte IP + 500 byte Data (fragment offset 185)

Where Packet 1.1 and 1.2 are further fragments from packet 1. Packet 2
remains the same as it smaller taht the MTU.

Thx,
BBD (Big Black Dog)
