IP mroute is NOT used for routing multicast packets. It is used to override
the RPF check done on multicast. RPF expects that multicast stuff will be
received from the same interface that the source would typically be reached
on.
IP mroute will provide an alternate mentality of a way to receive multicast
packets.
If you are routing over your tunnel, then check your routing table!

Subject: IP mroute
Anyone have a good explanation/scenario where this would be used.
I have set up 3 routers. The one in between does not support multicasting.
I set up a tunnel in between the two M routers.
It works without the mroute being configured.
Both tunnels have pim dense configured
Any thoughts ?
