Router Checksum

I have a bit of a dump question. I have a file in flash on a router and I
know what the files checksum should be, but what is the command to make the
router do the checksum. I know that when you tftp the file to the router,
it does the checksum, but what about files that are already on the router.
The "verify flash:xxx" just says that its verified, but where to find out
what the checksum is. dir flash: does not show it either. This is on a
2620. Thanks
