I run about 6000 on a 2600 at work. The only problem you have is saving the
config to NVRAM, If you use the service compress-config command it generally
isn't an issue

PAT entries in a NAT table on a 2600 or 3700 series
router. For a couple of T1 WAN bandwidth.

With some additional DRAM.
