RE: R&S MPLS

"Ignorant" would probably be a more precise dictionary definition of
someone who merely lacks knowledge. And when it comes to the gargantuan
field of networking we are all ignorant to some degree (except maybe
Howard ;-).

Changing usage of "dumb" and "dummies" (especially the "dummies" series
of books) has popularized the idea that the word "dumb" is the same as
"ignorant" but careful usage by consulting any dictionary tells us
otherwise. And since we are pursuing an "Expert" certification on this
list, maybe using "dummies" raises a few hackles.

Just my thoughts ...

Back on track, the Cisco Press book "MPLS and VPN architectures" (ISBN
1-58705-002-1) is a good introduction to the subject.

The Doc CD has a good link or two:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/vpn/solution/rampls2/ind
ex.htm

If you have a customer logon, TAC has a link that leads to a mother lode
of MPLS info:

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/browse/psp_view.pl?p=Internetworkin
g:MPLS&viewall=true

BTW, there has not even been a hint that any MPLS is on the R&S CCIE
lab. Quite the opposite, in fact. If you search the archives you will
see that several Instructor-CCIEs have stated that MPLS is NOT on the
exam. In fact, the link below is a groupstudy archives post of a Q&A
session with CCIE Program Manager Bill Parkhurst, in which the author
has Parkhurst stating that "There is NO MPLS on the exam."

http://www.groupstudy.com/archives/ccielab/200301/msg00861.html

In a nutshell, if you are looking at MPLS to prepare for the CCIE R&S
lab exam, don't waste your time on it. If you are looking to be
informed, try the above links or the book.
