mohit
let me explain you step by step
first of all router can play the role of dhcp relay agent as well as dhcp
server to gether..........as we know.
now at this stage smart-relay come into picture...........if configured
when ever client contect dhcp server(third party)
the router which plays both the roles simaltaniously will work here as relay
agent.......as dhcp server is third parly
but when third party dhcp server is not able to contect the client ......
the router working as relay agent will switch the address of second gateway
where an other dhcp server or it may be itself too as it is dhcp server
.......
that is nothing but the secondary ip address of the incomming request
interface of router it self only
so when ever exausation or any other problem comes between client and server
relay-agent will use subnet selection suboptions and will solve the problem.
and its nothing to wonder..........about new gateway.....see the command
Router(config-dhcp)#
default-router
address [address2 ... address8]
this is for the client router..........
ok
IF I AM WRONG PLZ SOLVE THE TOPIC............GROUP.
