Here's the extent of my deep dive to find your answer.

Went to cisco.com/univercd, browsed to the 3550 guide, clicked on
"configuring STP" and then chose "Configuring the Root Switch" and BAM! I
got the link below

Is there a global command that will enable a cat 3550
to be the root for all vlans. The spanning-tree vlan
command requires you to type in for all vlans.
