Backup Interface with Ethernet and FR!

Hi Team,
I was investigating the optimum configuration to utilize backup interface usages. I think that this backup technique has a problem with technologies like FR and ethernet. Cause with these technologies we may have a problem at one side of the link while the other side is totaly unaware of the link failure.

So if it happened that the unaware side is the one with the backup interface configuration then the backup up link will never come up.

I tried to use backup interface on both sides of the link to overcome such a problem. But with my setup using an ISDN simulator only one side was able to initiate calls. The other side tries but it never manage to get control over the BRI port. I think this is related to the standby mode used by the backup interface technique.

So the problem was not solved using my setup!!! Did anyone tried this over a real ISDN network and has better knowledge or other turn arrounds?

Thanks for help
SAM
