Hello CAR experts,
I already have a TAC case but since I'm EDT and the case is PST I figured I'd bounce it off the list.
On a 4006 with SUP III I cannot get any packets to conform. I have found what seems to be contradictory
docs on cisco's web page. They say you can only rate-limit ip traffic ...
from http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1820/products_feature_guide09186a00800f4890.html#16318
Restrictions
CAR and DCAR can only be used with IP traffic. Non-IP traffic is not rate-limited
and then further down in same page ...
Matching Criteria
Rate policies can be associated with one of the following:
a.. All IP traffic
IP precedence (defined by a rate-limit access list)
QoS group
MAC address (defined by a rate-limit access list)
IP access list (standard and extended)
I am trying to rate-limit on a layer-2 port on a 4006. Does / has anyone ever done this or know if it can be done? If this doesn't work, the backup is to try to rate limit on a BVI on an 8540, somewhere in 12.1 because
12.0 doesn't have it. Thanks and good luck to all.
