Hi all:
We are wondering if it is posible to configure a dial backup mechanism that
allow these conditions:
1-The backup link only must go up in working hours AND
2-The backup link only must go up if the branch office has lost frame relay
communication with the central office.
The problem is we have redundant pvc's in branch offices to access the
central site, and we prefer frame relay access than ISDN access if
possible. This is, you only must call by ISDN if the two pvcs are down and
the branch office has no way to go to the central site. Besides, i though
backup interface doesn't help especially because the fr pvcs of the central
can go down but not the pvcs in the branche office, and we only want that
branches offices launch the call. And also, we only want that the link go
up in working days to save innecesary costs.
Then, i was thought that we could combine dialer watch and an access list
extended that uses a time range to specify when do you must call exactly.
But i'm seeing that the dialer watch seems not allow to specify an ACL to
control this. Any one knows any way to do so? May be a problem with my IOS
release? I'm using 12.1.14 in all my routers. We are using OSPF to
communicate our sites.
Maybe a possible work-around, that we don't want to consider at first,
because it suppose very hard system administrative task: configure dial
backup based on floating static routes and obviously have these statics
routes in all routers.
Regards and thank you very much for your help.
