I got it working by using the IOS 12.1.17 instead on 12.0.21.

For r4 to learn 172.29.12.0, I summarize as the following on r2 and
redistribute ospf into rip. I also redistributed connected into rip
Area 12 range 172.29.12.0 255.255.255.0

I do not see the route in r4.

Any ideas?
