In San Jose they have a key-card that you need to take with you to get back
in to the lab room in case you need a bathroom or smoke break. Pick it up
from the proctor and return it when you come back. If you forget to take
it you're out of luck getting back in to the lab.

This is the type of thing that is covered in the initial lab briefing when
you arrive.
