John,

I use notepad in a couple ways. One thing I like to do is when double sets
of configs are nearly identical is type it once in notepad and paste twice.
For example two frame relay physical interface configs, I type it once in
notepad, paste it, then change the frame map IP and dlcis, the post in other
router. Another thing I do but more when I am experimenting with major
changes is type the config in notepad both undoing something else and doing
my experimental change, then when done testing, add "no" to certain
statements and repaste to quickly set things back to where they were.
Unexpectedly, both of these techniques came in handy on my first attempt. I
had an unexpected frame relay/IGP configuration that caught me by surprise
and I undid and redid configuration changes alot across two routers and
being comfortable with the above notepad style usage was beneficial.
