You could apply an access list to permit network X from AS999's space on
both interfaces. Follow with "permit ip any any". Then ping an address
in AS999's space with a source in network X, show access-list and see which
one is incrementing. The "wrong" one should see no hits.

In a very quiet lab environment, debug ip packet.
