Typical issue here is that with the older 2500/3000 series routers is the hardware flow-control issue.
In HyperTerminal, hardware flow-control is enabled by default and the older routers just hate that.
Anytime I can get information from the router aka screen output but I cannot get the router to take keystrokes I always check the hardware flow-control first. Set the flow-control to none and then disconnect/restart HyperTerminal then reboot/restart the router and see what you get.
