The IGS is the precursor to the 3000, which was the precursor to the 2500.
Yes, in all actuality, it runs Cisco 2500 IOS.

However, the IOS is burned into EPROM and the unit only supports 4MB of
DRAM. As a result, the latest version of IOS you can run is 10.0(14) from
EPROM and 10.3(19) IP ONLY from TFTP.

The IGS/R is the Ethernet/Serial version of the router, while the IGS/L is
the dual Ethernet model.
