Hi,
When u distribute list there are 2 options "Distribute list in/out" and u can use them either on interface or for a protocol.
When using IN there is only 1 option: On an interface.
Note: Wont work for OSPF when used on interface.
No use in using "IN" for protocol as the protocol is already distributed into Rx protcol. As per u example OSPF is Rxing from EIGRP.
When using OUT u have two options: On interface or Protocol.
when using for protocol it controls what routes are redistributed into the Rx potocol. In ur e.g it will control what routes from EIGRP will be redistributed to OSPF.
Note : wont work for OSPF once again on interface.
Hope that helps. this is how i have understood.
Annu.
