Hello Paul,
As long as it doesn't explicitly say no router ID's you can configure them.
This subject has been discussed before on Groupstudy with some saying it's best not to and others saying to.
Me personally, I prefer to use router IDs as it makes debugging and configuring Virtual links quicker and easier.
After you've finished configuring on the lab It is said that the proctor will reload all routers before looking at the configs etc so if you are not nailing the router id, ensure that the one you are using won't change because of the reload !!
