Should be dot1q. From what I know, the data is going through the native vlan
and the voice is going through the voice vlan. So I think you need a
"switchport trunk native vlan XYZ"
Also, its a little different for CatOS (eg. Cat6k) where there doesn't seem
to be a trunking specification for the port, just a configured
auxiliaryvlan.

Albert

Hi,
There is a ip phone and pc is connected to voice vlan 8 on cat 3550
Here is the config.
Int f0/10
switchport trunk encapsualation ??????
switchport mode trunk
switchport voice vlan 8
I know that to enable a port to carry both voice and data packets
it should be a trunk port. I would like to know / confirm that which
encapsulation
to use with the trunk as I donot have any ip phone to test it out ?
Thanks
Rgds
