Paul,
I haven't tested it, but it was explained to me just as you stated. All
IRDP clients which have been designed to the standard should prefer the
router with the highest IRDP Preference. If you configure a Cisco router as
a client:
no ip routing
ip gdp irdp
then you will be able to see the client select the preferred router, but GDP
will have selected the router with the lowest pref.
