I have remote site connecting over FRATM to two core
routers. The FR side is a 2621 running 12.1(5)T code. The
ATM side is a 7500 running 12.1(12a). Three times in the
last week we have lost contact with the router. Each time
the eigrp neighbors go down. I have caught this call 2 of
the three times and have been able to log into the router by
telneting to the serial interface for the atm. Eigrp is down
and will not connect. Pings to the far interface work fine
and telnet has a good response. The carrier claims that the
line is fine and for a change I am in agreement at least at
the physical level. The hardware was replaced yesterday. The
next time it happens operations will call me directly and I
will try and do some deeper debuging.
My question is has anyone seen a carrier problem at the
frame switch or a frame to atm problem that would let a
telnet session through and not eigrp hello's?
