If you have a Type 1 only ISIS area the default route outside is trough
Type 1/2 router. But because ISIS is a clns routing protocol to advertise
this defalult route you must turn on a clns routing in area. The " clns
routing" is turned automaticaly when you get the interface into isis
process.

Hi group,

Can someone please tell me what is the purpose for "clns routing" global
configuration command for ISIS?

I setup 5 routers in my home lab using ISIS, and I get IP connectivity
throughout
the entire network without using this command...

According to TCP/IP Vol 1 (Solie), it says this command should be
automatically
entered by IOS when ISIS is enabled, yet it is not in my router's configs
anywhere...

N.B:- I'm using IOS 12.2(12a)

Cheers,
Lee
