If you do not apply split-horizon properly you are going to get route
feedback regardless of whether you are doing redistribution or not. If you
do get routing loops due to split horizon it will be because of split
horizon not necessarily because of redistribution. The answer in my mind
would be to properly apply split horizon not filter routes.
If you have distance problems, I would guess the solution would be to adjust
the distance of that routing protocol on the local router, not filter routes
necessarily. But that is only my take on it and there are several ways to
skin a cat.
