This might be the case with more recent IOS releases from my own lab
practices. But there seems to be an indication that older releases
required proper route filtering. Doyle's Vol.1 mentions this in one
exercise where you do mutual redistribution, and this book was written
based on 11.3. Any "older" folks care to comment?

Most people seem to filter however I have never had a problem. The
router
performs a kind of split-horizon to redistribution to prevent loops.
This is
why you have to redistribute everything into everything.

Subject: Mutual redistribution
Hi,
In case I am doing a mutual redistribution at a single point between any
two routing protocols , do I really ever need to filter the routes that
are
being redistributed for prevention of a loop.....????????
I have never done this and have had no problems till now..... But
wouldnt
want to discover something new during my lab.....
But is there any case where filtering is required in for such a
redistribution?....what is the normal thing to do??
Regards,
Vijay.
