Well, EIGRP already has a storage area for "backup" routes in the
topology database so when the "best" routes go down it doesn't go active
as long as other backup routes can be found in the topology database.

Here are some URL's that mention about this command...
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk365/technologies_tech_note09186a
008009437d.shtml#traffic

And another... http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/103/19.html#traffic

And it's missing in the command reference...
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_command_
reference_chapter09186a00800917e8.html#1024898

Any ideas?

When the routes receiving traffic disappear due to an outage,
then you will have backup routes that will receive

thats my guess.....I'm not familiar with the command....is it
to specify min number of routes or min metric?

Subject: EIGRP's Traffic-share min command

Group,
I have two questions about this command. It is documented on CCO as
follows.Configuring the traffic-share min command causes the Cisco IOS
software to only divide traffic among the routes with the best metric.
Other routes will remain in the routing table, but will receive NO
TRAFFIC.

1. What's the point of installing routes in the routing table if
those routes will receive NO TRAFFIC?
2. Isn't it that a router only installs and forwards routes that it
actually uses?

This command is no longer documented in the 12.2 release, yet is still
available in the CLI. Is this one of those commands that is either
misunderstood or unused in the current network deployments? Seems to me
that Cisco is phasing out this command.

Any comments?

Elmer
