EIGRP's Traffic-share min command

Group,
I have two questions about this command. It is documented on CCO as
follows.Configuring the traffic-share min command causes the Cisco IOS
software to only divide traffic among the routes with the best metric.
Other routes will remain in the routing table, but will receive NO
TRAFFIC.

1. What's the point of installing routes in the routing table if
those routes will receive NO TRAFFIC?
2. Isn't it that a router only installs and forwards routes that it
actually uses?

This command is no longer documented in the 12.2 release, yet is still
available in the CLI. Is this one of those commands that is either
misunderstood or unused in the current network deployments? Seems to me
that Cisco is phasing out this command.

Any comments?

Elmer
