Hi,
Using the Voice VLAN feature isn't going to buy you anything unless
you're running Call Manager with Cisco IP Phones or some other vendors
VoIP solution. I work for Avaya and we use Voice VLANs and the CatOS
Aux VLANs quite a bit in our VoIP implementations. Basically it's an
easy way to separate the traffic from an IP Phone and the traffic from a
PC plugged into the switch on the IP phone into separate VLANS.
Here's a good page on using Voice VLANS

tion_guide_chapter09186a00800d84c0.html
Thanks,
Jamey

Subject: What is needed to setup Voice VLAN??
Hi Group,
If I want to configure Voice VLAN, which is the cheapest switch that I
need
to get??
Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 DC SMI Switch
Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 FX SMI Switch
Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 PWR Switch
Cisco Catalyst 3550 24 SMI Switch
I currently have 2 of NM-1V & 2 VIC-2FXS. Is there a particular type of
Cisco IP Phones that is needed for Voice VLANs?? Or anything would
work??
Any other gears that i missed?
Thanks.
