I think the concept of Native vs Hybrid only applies to the 6500, not
the 3550. The 3550 is an IOS device. EMI adds additional layer 3
features not available with SMI. If you want to think of Native vs
Hybrid, it is Native, since Native = IOS. But EMI and SMI are IOS and
there is no way to make the 3550 a Hybrid/CatOS device.

What does this mean?
