Dear Mathew,
Are u running any dynamic routing? It may cause the
idle timer to be triggered on every few seconds. U
can try to change the access-list as follows to see
whether the connection can be teared down
automatically after u completed the ping.
dialer-list 1 protocol ip list 100
access-list 100 permit icmp any any
