So you don't have a routed port for every connection.
You could have 20 10/100 physical ports (access mode)
in VLAN 20. Then create a SVI (interface vlan 20) to
route that VLAN with the rest of the routed interfaces
or routed VLAN interfaces (SVIs).
It depends on the environment. If you were a COLO then
having a routed interface w/proper filtering for every
customer is a good thing (I would prefer pvlans in
this case), or a 6509 in your core routing between all
your subnets if your a big company with that many
subnets. Just some scenarios.
