Hello Jake,

That's what I was thinking too... but when I lab it up, RTA keeps on saying
the packets are un-interesting...

However, if I ping 192.168.10.1 to bring up the ISDN first, then pinging
201.x.x.x/8 would work.

N.B:- I'm using IOS 12.2(1d).

Best Regards,
HL

Look at the ip route statement they have:
ip route 201.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 192.168.10.1

So traffic destined for any host residing on 201.0.0.0/8 will iniate dialing
because its now interesting (ip route statement points to dialer)

It will be ecrypted merely because the dialer interface has a crypto map
that says encrypt anything to peer 192.168.10.1

Hi All,

Can someone please explain to me what the following dialer-list statement
does (at RTA)??

access-list 102 permit ip any host 192.168.10.1
dialer-list 1 protocol ip list 102

RTA - Calling router
RTB - Called router

By that, I would think that the RTA will only trigger the ISDN to dial to
RTB only if the RTA is initiating any traffic to 192.168.10.1 (ISDN
Connecting interface of RTB). However, CCO claims that ISDN will also be
triggered by the IPSec traffic to a different IP (201.10.0.1). Even though
I am confused what IPSec will make any difference if the destination isn't
towards 192.168.10.1?

Any Ideas? ive got no clue.
