Subject: Passed CCIE Lab Exam (# 10595)!

Hi,

I wanted to thank all the members of this group for their contributions.
Passed the CCIE Lab in Bangalore on Saturday (Oct 26). I am yet to come to
terms with this. This was my first attempt.

Was so sure that I blew up when I could not do a configuration. Thanks to
God, I could resolve the issues about 30 minutes before end of lab. But I
never had the courage to verify/double check configurations, routing tables,
ping tests etc. Left the lab thinking that I couldn't make it. Called up my
proctor about 2 hours after the lab and he told to my utter disbelief: "Yes,
you passed..."

Bit of my advice for those appearing for the lab:

 - glance through the whole question booklet before starting

 - you may not want to make a diagram of your own, all the information that
you need to do config is provided

 - do not hurry up, do configuration at your normal pace, there is enough
time to complete all tasks in the eight working hours

 - you may not know all the commands/configuration to complete all tasks.
this is o.k. you can refer to documentation CD. But you need to know the IOS
feature asked to configure and how to locate it on the CD.

 - do not panic. don't get stuck with a particular problem. move on and come
back to it later.

 - since I did not do any verification or extensive testing no comments on
this.

On my preparation (I have work experience on IP routing, IPX, DLSw etc):

- did six months of preparation (reading and hands-on practice in the ratio
60:40 (appro.)).

- based my preparation on the Doc CD configuration guides and command
reference. Downloaded and took print outs of some of them.

- read all IOS features (except AppleTalk, LANE etc) and samples/tips on
Cisco TAC site

- used all the usual books to supplement my studies. The two books I read
from cover to cover are Jeff Doyle I and Sam Halabi.

- read most of the postings on this site

- did scenarios from Fatkid site, CyscoExpress sample lab and Karl Solie

- CCIE Bangalore lab offers practice lab. Used four days of practice lab and
this helped me with ISDN, Cat5000, and Cat 3920.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE ARE PREPARING FOR THE LAB EXAM
